Class of 2022 – Jennifer

Alumni class 2022As a student who attended Krabi International School since year 5, if I could sum up my experience with IGCSE’s, I would always return to just one word: opportunity. I admit they were difficult; to say the least, I fought tooth and nail to achieve my grades and there were multiple times I considered giving up. I didn’t, however, and I’m grateful I was able to persevere as it was only due to my IGCSE results that I was given the opportunity to attend one of the top 10% rated sixth forms in England. There, I was able to complete three A-levels which have provided me with experience and, I must stress, joy in my time here. Whilst my last 2 years in sixth form were also challenging, completing them has opened a multitude of windows of opportunity to achieve a higher education of my choosing, or even jobs. Choice is something I always advocate for, and whilst I understand some people will choose to walk down another path, I am forever grateful for my experience at Krabi International School for cheering me on and providing me with all the support I needed to complete my IGCSE’s so that I could pave the path I chose with A-levels.

For students who wish to continue their studies in the UK, or really anywhere, whether with A-levels as I did or a higher form of education (University or apprenticeships), the best tip I can give you is to strive for the next achievement. Whether being to simply finish your next assignment, improving your grade from a test, or even getting up in the morning and going to school. Any small achievement, no matter how small, is something to be proud of. Telling myself to improve in the smallest ways cascaded into an overall improvement within my school life and has kept me going with my chin high and pride in my every achievement.

Since finishing my A-levels only recently, I had no idea what I wanted to do; I still don’t. There are countless opportunities in the world waiting for me, and for you. It can be mortifying to those who don’t seem to have a clue for their future, and I cannot stress enough that that is perfectly okay. For now, I’m choosing to take a gap year as my next achievement, within which I’m simply going to explore opportunities by taking up different jobs, travelling, and enjoying life. After which, I hope to take on an apprenticeship in tourism and hospitality, aviation, or even something else. As my penultimate (Mr Smart’s favourite word in the English dictionary) imparting of my garnered knowledge and experience to you; I know some people take more time than others to find their place in life and, with the help of my IGCSE’s and A-levels, I’ll be able to move forward with the knowledge that my results will provide me with a little extra help in my pool of opportunity.

My advice to anyone and everyone going into or currently doing their IGCSE’s is to keep going. Push forwards and on, as they are so incredibly helpful in giving you opportunities, as I was given.

And for anyone curious, I ended up taking three subjects for my A-levels: C-Tec sports, English literature, and Drama (my favourite subject; the most difficult but also the most fun!).
